Privacy Policy

[Legal entity name: pending confirmation] runs TruthClue. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and your choices.

1. Information about you (our customers)

  • Your email address, used for your account, sign-in codes, receipts and alerts.
  • The searches you run and the reports and add-ons you buy.
  • Billing records. Card details are handled by our payment processor [name]; we do not store card numbers.
  • Support messages you send us.
  • Technical data such as device, browser and pages viewed, including through advertising and analytics tools [list once chosen].

2. Information about people who are searched for

When a customer runs a search we query third-party data providers [list once contracted] for publicly available records that match the name and area entered, and show the customer what matched. We keep the search and its results in the customer's account. We do not notify the person searched for.

If you believe a record or a community post is about you, see Remove my information.

3. How we use information

  • To run searches and deliver reports.
  • To take payment, prevent fraud and handle refunds and disputes.
  • To answer support requests and enforce our terms.
  • To measure and improve the site and our advertising.

We do not sell our customers' personal information. [Confirm against ad-tool settings.]

4. Who we share it with

  • Data providers, to run your search (they receive the search terms).
  • Our payment processor, email provider, hosting and analytics providers.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

Unpurchased searches: [30 days]. Purchased reports: while your account is open, then [12 months]. Billing records: as tax law requires. Community posts: until removed. [Lawyer to confirm retention periods.]

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example Canada, Quebec, the EU or UK, or U.S. states such as California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a regulator. Send requests through Help and Support or support@truthclue.com. We answer within [30 days].

7. Children

The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
